Healing of the Spirit
- Spiritual Warfare

God, will you bless those that read these words? Will you pour out understanding and wisdom so that these may take what is from You and leave the rest?
What is this?
This is a Bible study on spiritual healing, or healing by the Spirit of God. My desire to put this together comes from my own experiences from the end of 2019 and the beginnings of 2020. God has transformed me spiritually and emotionally in ways that I could not have imagined. It was a painful process and it is still on-going, but I have discovered a few fundemental things that I am excited to share with others.
I’m going to give you all the answers right here:
- Prayer is your tool for healing. (Ephesians 6:11, Jeremiah 3:22, Matthew 11:28-30 (healing happens at rest))
- God requires that you be aligned with His will for Him to hear you and act on your words. (2 Chronicals 7:14)
- God’s will wins out. You may not be healed. (2 Corinthians 12:9)
This study meets weekly, on Thursdays at 8PM CST (6PM PST), starting August 13th 2020 and going until (probably) October.
There are weekly readings from the Bible, discussion questions, and “practice prayers”.
My desire for you is that you develop a daily habit of prayer for yourself and others. When you’ve finished here you should have the habits, processes, and mindset to effectively seek healing from God, intercede for the healing of others, and hold your spiritual ground against the enemy.
I’d like to cover the following in the weeks to come. This minutea will likely change, but the subjects covered will be these:
- Spiritual Warfare
- Alignment With God
The following is loosely based on a booklet titled “Pulling Down Strongholds” by Derek Prince, and of course, the Bible.
- Matthew 12:24-37
- Ephesians 6:12
- Daniel 10
- Romans 8:37-39
- Zechariah 3:1
- Job 1:6-12
- Ephesians 6:10-18
- belt of truth
- breastplate of righteousness
- shoes: readiness given by the gospel of peace
- shield of faith (specifically to defeat the enemy)
- helmet of salvation
- sword of the spirit, which is the word of God
- praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.
This week your challenge is to pick one thing, from one aspect of your life and devote yourself to prayer over that one thing. These prayers should be Nehemiah Style prayers, quick and to the point. Use the following template as a starting point.
God, please forgive me for ________. I don’t want to be that kind of person. Will you take ________ from me? Help me to be the person You want me to be.
The goal of this exercise is to build two habits: first, frequency of prayer, and second, practice giving God even the small things.
